Each one of us has very diverse opinions of what is happening in our country and what our current administration is doing right or wrong. We are great critics of our country and political ways, yet few of us look closely at what is driving or not driving our very own businesses. Resignation and complacency is always easy and very common. Sometimes we want to run the country but it seems we have to run our companies first.
I decided to look closely at some of the projects we were working with and some of the related clients. How many were old clients and how many were new. Were these projects lingering from the past years or were these new ventures which we created in the last few years. Certainly in our business a project can take a few years to get to a stage where it is really a project on the boards or in construction. Are we networking enough and are we networking in a smart way. Are we engaged with our clients or are we just going thru the motions. These are critical questions that we have to ask ourselves in order to be able to move forward and make our businesses better. I realized that our firm a design and built firm had taken on a new leg. While we were still designing and building, we had expanded to become true consultants to so many of our clients. Our vast knowledge base and experience gives us the credibility to become owner’s representatives and assist many of our clients with real information and true direction. This has become a vital and larger portion of our services. Our formation of an alternative energy company, Alt Energy Group, LLC, has also placed us in another venture that has given us opportunities.
We continue to become equity partners in ventures that have helped us develop new work which we could not have been involved without an entrepreneurial spirit. It’s important for each one of us to identify what we do best, take chances and think out of the box.
