CSR Construction Corp. of Nutley, New Jersey, is constructing the new DMCF Developers Maintenance and Control Facility, at the Goethals Bridge Replacement Project in Elizabeth, NJ. This building will house the developer’s offices, maintenance vehicles and instrumentation and controls for the new Goethals Bridge. As part of the overall project the bridge will be a new twin-span structure and the first major, all-new bridge built in the region since the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge was completed in 1964. It will also be the region's first cable-stay bridge, with a distinctly modern look.

Though the buildings life started as a silk factory in 1886, it was a bra-manufacturing plant and became famous in 1929 as the legendary maidenform complex where the corporate headquarters resided for about 76 years before relocating in the 90's. Built as three separate buildings, the complex includes several buildings and outbuildings and a landlocked courtyard all adjacent to the original industrial rail lines of the great industrial period in the United States.

“When I saw the site, I couldn’t believe how close we were to the water said Leon Cohen, AIA, principal of CSR. Having sailed the Hudson River, the projects concept unfolded re ecting (2) forms reminiscent of sails sitting on the rock. The curvature of the forms would give better visual orientation to the south and to the bridge to the north. I felt the house’s forms should visually oat in the water at high tide.”

We hope that you can join us for the grand opening of the CompleteCare Vineland Health Campus: Gwendolyn E. Gould Center for Community Health. The health center is the result of a $5 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration. Designed and Built by the CSR Group of Nutley, NJ., Leon Cohen, AIA adds This state-of-the-art health center features 27 exam rooms, 10 dental areas, phlebotomy labs, a pharmacy and more and will serve all of those who need care no matter their insurance status or ability to pay. Services at the new site include pediatric and family medicine, internal medicine, dental care, podiatry, eye care, women’s health services, specialty care, counseling services and health education classes. We anticipate that the medical services offered at this new location will serve 20,000 patients for a total of 60,000 visits per year and dental will serve 6,000 patients for a total of 13,000 visits annually.
